Childrens Event; Saturday 27 May

On Saturday 27 May we are holding a children"s gardening workshop in Oxted Library between 2.00 and 3.00pm.
The plan is to get the children to colour in, or draw, a picture of a sun flower and to plant up some French been seeds to bring to our "Celebration of Gardening" on Saturday 8 July.
Do come along and see us.

We enjoyed a very good morning on Saturday 20 May at the Red Cross Hall, Oxted for our Annual Plant Sale. This is our main fund raising event of the year, and the net contributions to funds was greater than 2016.

We were also very fortunate to have such a large donation of of plants, so a very big thank you to all the growers, and to all those who came along and supported the event.

Any plants that were unsold went on to St Mary's School Fayre, and any unsold from there go on to the One World Group Open Gardens on Monday 29 May.

Chairman Rick managed to get permission from the organisers of the Italian Market for us to have a satellite sales point in Station Road East, which attracted a lot of interest and sales.

Terry chats with Adrian following his talk
At our Monthly meeting on Wednesday 4 May we welcomed Adrian Davies who talked to us about taking photographs of plants. We were all able to learn something, even those who take casual snaps.
For example, it is better to take photos when overcast rather than in sunlight. The latter gives shadows and can make colours look unnatural.
This is particularly important if you are attempting to photograph a carpet of Bluebells.
As part of the evening members were invited to bring along their plant and garden photos for us all to see, and for Adrian to judge which he thought best. The winner was Thor with his stunning photo of wild meadow flowers.
To enlarge, please click on the images. (The photo of the Bluebells has been update so it can be enlarged).
