LODHS AT THE OXTED CARNIVAL 2018

Early on Saturday 7 July an intrepid band of LODHS members (including one of the oldest) set up the stand in Master Park for the Oxted Carnival.
It was a very hot day, and what with that and the afternoon World Cup match between England and Sweden, numbers visiting were not as large as usual.
However, our stand looked very attractive, thanks to the guidance and direction of Chairman Rick, not to mention all those who put it together, donated plants and attended it throughout the day.
LODHS really made its presence felt.

ST PETERS, LIMPSFIELD - FLOWER FESTIVAL 2018

From Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July, St Peters Church in Limpsfield was host to a magnificent flower festival featuring over twenty displays based on various themes.

Just take a look at the images below that give just a hint or two of how they looked when viewed in the church. (Each image may be enlarged by clicking on it.)

As is quite common this summer the period was very hot, and it must have presented a real challenge to keep the displays as fresh looking as they were.

Congratulations to all concerned.

Visit to "Salutation" in Sandwich

On Wednesday 20 June a coach full of LODHS members and friends set off for the "Salutations" gardens at Sandwich in Kent.
As can be seen in the following set of photos, (thank you Rick) it is a delightful garden and well worth a visit. 
The guide for the tour round was Sam, and the trip was put together by Jenny. Our thanks to her for getting it (the weather and us!) organised.

Hurst Green Summer Evening Flower Show

On Wednesday 13 June, Hurst Green Gardening Club are holding their Summer Evening Flower Show at 8pm in St Agathas Hall.

10 Years 100 Newsletters

Yesterday, 2 May we published the 100th edition of our Newsletter. It also marks the tenth year it has been in circulation. Number one was published in March 2008, and was launched by editor Sharon, who was responsible for few editions.

Thanks to our indefatigable Membership Secretary, Jenny, we are able to reproduce Edition one. Immediately below is No: 100 Please click on the images to enlarge.
Jenny has a file of hard copies for every issue. An interesting record of LODHS happenings over the ten year period.

What we need is contributions from our membership including photos of their gardens, plants or places of interest they have visited.

Riverhill House

Azaleas in full bloom at River Hill House

Chairman Rick has reminded us of the delights of the Riverhill House (nr. Sevenoaks) and their Hymalayan Garden.
Now we are in May the azaleas will soon be in full 
bloom and well worth a look.
